Perfect weather in Monaco during the 75th edition of Grand Prix. Free Practice and Qualifying brought some surprising results with Kimi Raikkonen as Pole for the race, followed by Sebastian Vettel and third Bottas.
As expected the race did not show any spectacular overtakes of racing moves, as the track is narrow and does not offer any overtaking chances. Kimi lead the race all the way to his pit stop, which was most likely ordered by the team, 5 laps before Sebastian Vettel and give space to drive fast laps and get enough gap to be at first position, after Vettel’s Pit stop. Behind 2 Ferrari we saw some action with Ricciardo finishing third place, overtaking Bottas, who ended fourth.
it was not the weekend of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, who was fighting with his car to find the right setup, but only started 14th during the race, ending 7th, which was still an impressive result, considering the narrow track.
As usual Monaco harbor was decorated with luxury yachts, fancy dressed people and loads of Champagne. While we saw empty seats during qualifying, we did not find any empty one on Sunday and would say – the city was really packed with racing enthusiastic people.
Overall the weekend was smooth, few surprises only Wehrlein had a spectacular crash with kissing the barrier with his head, but luckily unhurt.
Vettel seems unstoppable this year.
